May 11, 2009 - Naji Cherfan Foundation
NCF Fundraising Event
“Mom, Mom, I love your paintings. You should have an exhibition. I really want you to have one”
Those were Naji words. He repeated them over and over during the months before he left us… I still hear those words and wish more than anything that I had done this exhibition while he was still here… — Mrs. Sana Cherfan
The NCF’s first fundraising event was organized by Naji’s mother, Sana Cherfan, in memory of her son. Sana, holder of an Associate of Arts degree from the Lebanese American University, has enjoyed art since childhood, and has taken many painting courses during the past several years. Sana’s hobby grew into a professional skill quickly, and it became very clear, especially to Naji, that she had to show it to the world by organizing an exhibition. Naji had arranged the paintings in an electronic database, and collected the pictures on a CD to facilitate the preparations for an exhibition. He tirelessly encouraged his mother to take the next step.
On May 15-16, 2009 the long planned for exhibition was organized in the garden of the Cherfan residence in Athens. Paintings with subjects including people, flowers and still nature were exhibited; 60 paintings were sold that day. The support of family members and friends who knew Naji was astounding. To further the Naji Cherfan Foundation’s cause, all proceedings from this premier event were allocated to the activities now being implemented by the Foundation in memory of our beloved Naji.
